Error when creating a virtual switch via a WLAN adapter with Hyper-V.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

When trying to create a virtual switch with Hyper-V I got the following nasty error message.<\/p>\n

\nFailed while adding virtual Ethernet switch connections.
\nFailed to connect Ethernet switch port(switch name=” “,port name=”< port id>“,adapter GUID=”{GUID id}’):

Not only did the creation not work, but after that the network connection was dead. <\/p>\n

A reboot or deactivating\/activating the network adapter in the settings can help here.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Alternatively, the command “netcfg -d” helps here, which resets the network settings. The command is executed via a Powershell with admin rights. Afterwards, a reboot is due.<\/p>\n

The problem at this point is probably due to my system’s wifi adapter, unfortunately, as also described here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If I select the Ethernet adapter, for example, then it works immediately and without problems. Apparently not every network card gets along with Hyper-V or vice versa. There is no real solution for this. In most cases it might not even be necessary. For normal internet<\/a> over NAT the “Default Switch” is sufficient. Otherwise, you have to bite the bullet and use a different WLAN adapter if necessary.<\/p>\n
