But what about a virtual burner?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The other day I wanted to test the <a href=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/23630\/windows-11-sichern-und-wiederherstellen-kaputt\/\">old backup function of Windows 11<\/a>. At the end of the process, there is an option to burn a bootable media. Burn? I remember darkly, we used to do that and copy DVDs ourselves. All legal of course. Meanwhile, of course, my computer no longer has a burner, the option to simply create an ISO file, of course, does not exist.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YR56XkwWRN8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now there are lots of software and drivers to include ISO files as a virtual DVD drive in the system, but are there also virtual burners? Which create an ISO file at the end of the &#8220;burning process&#8221;? There are!<\/p>\n<h2>TotalMounter<\/h2>\n<p>Googling for a virtual DVD burner, we find numerous software. Much of it is paid, but since I do not need the thing all the time now, I did not want to spend money. After some searching I found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kernsafe.com\/download\/totalmounter.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TotalMounter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The software seems a bit old-fashioned and still talks about Windows 7 in the system requirements and the download button is titled &#8220;Download Trial&#8221;. Nevertheless, the software also works without problems in Windows 11 and is also completely free.<\/p>\n<p>A device driver is installed during the installation, this has to be confirmed briefly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23647\" src=\"http:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_1.png 675w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_1-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After starting the program, a virtual drive can be created. In addition to the possibility of creating &#8220;normal DVD drives&#8221;, virtual CD or DVD burners can also be created.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23649\" src=\"http:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the virtual blank DVD we can specify the size, type <a title=\"iTunes: find &#038; change backup directory\" href=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/en\/26725\/find-and-change-itunes-backup-location\/\">and location<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23651\" src=\"http:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_3.png 515w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/virtual_dvd_burner_3-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Done! The drive is now mounted. Software that wants to write things to DVD can then write to the virtual drive.
