Delete volume is disabled? With diskpart we can fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If you have created a bootable USB drive with Linux or an SD card for the Raspberry Pi, you may find yourself in a position, where you want to use the drive again for Windows and want to delete the partitions on the drive, to create a single one.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LZdKTGOEbeA\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>However, some partitions can not be deleted in the Windows disk management tool. The option is just disabled. In my case, it was a small 3 MB partition. Not much space wasted, but the partition always got a drive letter assigned, so I had two drives showing up, when I connected the USB drive to the computer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"324\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24669\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_1.png 379w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_1-300x256.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 379px) 100vw, 379px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Delete partitions with diskpart<\/h2>\n<p>Lucky for us, Windows offers a second tool called &#8220;diskpart&#8221;. It is a command line tool. To run it, we have to open a &#8220;Command prompt&#8221; with admin rights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"405\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24671\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_2.png 562w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/part_2-300x216.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we type in &#8220;diskpart&#8221; to start the tool.
