Different battery size, different battery type for a replacement battery for a Dell 5570?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A colleague at work has a Dell 5570 laptop. After a weekend, the bottom cover was sticking out. The battery had blown up. But no problem, we thought, let&#8217;s just order a new one. There were a few hurdles, because the new battery not only had a different type number, but also had the connections on the other side. The dimensions were also different from those of the original battery. If you want to change the battery of the notebook, it is quite easy to do it yourself. We loosen a few screws on the underside. The battery was type &#8220;WJ5R2&#8221; with 84Wh and 11.4V. It is connected with a cable, the connection is on the top.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/dell_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/dell_3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/dell_3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/dell_3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, the compatible replacement battery, which the Dell support page also shows, is a different type: <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3lwPaVJ\">6MT4T with 7.6 V<\/a> and also lower capacity of 62 Wh. It is not as wide as the other battery, the data does not fit and the cable could not be connected either. First we took the bottom of the case off again and screwed it down. Then we tried to switch on the computer. The computer didn&#8217;t go up in smoke, which is good, but it didn&#8217;t turn on either. So we connected the power supply and started the computer. This time it started and the BIOS not only showed the new battery, it also charged it.<\/p>\n<p>The second time, without the power supply, the computer could be switched on. If you have a computer of this type, it is best to check which battery is installed and order exactly this type.
