The problem was that a virtual machine in VMware was running very slowly. Hyper-V is part of Windows 11 Pro. But Windows 11 Home users may also have the software running in parts, more on this later.<\/p>\n<p>Pro users can remove the Hyper-V functions in the Windows features.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"634\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_1.png 656w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_1-300x290.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Home_version_and_Hyper-V\"><\/span>Home version and Hyper-V?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Interestingly, Hyper-V and some functions seem to be active in the Home version as well. However, they do not appear in the functions just shown. To check, we can use &#8220;msinfo&#8221;, which we call up via the Start menu. Here you will find an entry &#8220;A hypervisor was detected&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"913\" height=\"497\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51326\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_2.png 913w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_2-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_2-768x418.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 913px) 100vw, 913px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We can try the following things to disable it. We can open a command prompt with admin rights and enter the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nbcdedit \/set hypervisorlaunchtype off\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>The computer is then restarted. To reactivate the function, we can use the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nbcdedit \/set hypervisorlaunchtype auto\r\n<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Disable_core_isolation\"><\/span>Disable core isolation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There was still a recommendation on the internet to disable core isolation and memory integrity. This can be done in the Windows security settings. After switching off, a reboot is due.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"878\" height=\"458\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_3.png 878w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_3-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_3-768x401.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 878px) 100vw, 878px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The system information &#8220;msinfo&#8221; then no longer showed any virtualisation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"165\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_4.png 744w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/vmware_langsam_4-300x67.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 744px) 100vw, 744px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In the end, disabling Hyper-V brought about a significant improvement for the virtual machine. Interestingly, though, the problem doesn&#8217;t always seem to occur. On my AMD processor, memory integrity was enabled and there were no problems.
