Old software is often available on the Internet in the form of .img files. The following command is often given on the Internet:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo dd if=<image file> of=\/dev\/fd0\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>This also works and quickly reports that everything has worked. Too fast. The drive did nothing for me and afterwards there was nothing on the disc.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;path&#8221; to the device was different for me. The Linux command &#8220;<code>df<\/code>&#8221; brings up the correct device.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"748\" height=\"354\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5.png 748w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5-300x142.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In my case this was &#8220;<code>\/dev\/sdb<\/code>&#8220;, recognisable by the small size. So adjust the command if necessary:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo dd if=<image file> of=\/dev\/sdb\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Again, the command ran quickly, 190 MB\/s were reported immediately. The drive also started to rattle. It is now necessary to wait until the write process is really complete.
