Old software is often available on the Internet in the form of .img files. Here there is the software &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.winimage.com\/winimage.htm\">WinImage<\/a>&#8220;. This can be downloaded as a test version from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winimage.com\/download.htm\">manufacturer&#8217;s homepage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The trial version can be used for 30 days. The procedure is simple, we open the image file and can immediately see the contents. The following command is often given on the Internet:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo dd if=<image file> of=\/dev\/fd0\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>This also works and quickly reports that everything has worked. Too fast. The drive did nothing for me and afterwards there was nothing on the disc.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;path&#8221; to the device was different for me. The Linux command &#8220;<code>df<\/code>&#8221; brings up the correct device.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"748\" height=\"354\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5.png 748w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/diskette_5-300x142.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In my case this was &#8220;<code>\/dev\/sdb<\/code>&#8220;, recognisable by the small size. So adjust the command if necessary:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo dd if=<image file> of=\/dev\/sdb\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Again, the command ran quickly, 190 MB\/s were reported immediately. The drive also started to rattle. It is now necessary to wait until the write process is really complete.
