Remove Windows from the Linux boot menu.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Linux is usually installed alongside Windows first. Linux is kind enough to set up a boot loader, Grub. Here we can then select which operating system we want to start.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"137\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_1.png 548w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_1-300x75.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, if we have decided to do without Windows completely, we naturally want the boot menu to be customised accordingly and Windows to be removed. How do we do that?<\/p>\n<p>With a UEFI bios, we go to the &#8220;boot&#8221; folder in our Linux.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"419\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_2.png 603w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_2-300x208.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here we find a folder &#8220;efi&#8221;, in which we then find, for example, our Linux folder, in my case &#8220;ubuntu&#8221; and also a folder &#8220;Microsoft&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"275\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_3.png 620w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_3-300x133.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We simply delete this, alternatively we can of course also make a backup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"298\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_4.png 526w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/grub_4-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We then execute the command <code>sudo update-grub<\/code>. This updates the boot loader.
