The solution is to remove the boot loader by first mounting the EFI partition:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo mkdir \/mnt\/efi\r\nsudo mount \/dev\/sda1 \/mnt\/efi\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>In most cases, &#8220;sda1&#8221; is the correct data carrier, otherwise adjust.<\/p>\n<p>With the following command we can display the content:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo ls \/mnt\/efi\/EFI\/\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove_windows_boot_3.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"68\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove_windows_boot_3.webp 322w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove_windows_boot_3-300x63.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We remove the entry with the following command<\/p>\n<pre>\r\nsudo rm -r \/mnt\/efi\/EFI\/Microsoft\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Now we execute the update command again:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo update-grub<\/pre>\n<p>That&#8217;s it! The entry should now be removed.
