Audio switching not working.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I have a Dell 5300, which I have recently started running on <a href=\"https:\/\/andydunkel.net\/2026\/02\/20\/windows-statt-linux-ein-pragmatischer-rueckschritt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Windows again<\/a>. Under Linux, the sound worked without any issues, specifically the switching between headphones and speakers. Under Windows, it didn\u2019t work quite like that. After plugging in the headphones, the sound continued to come from the internal speakers.<\/p>\n<p>Only after a restart, with the headphones plugged in, did the sound come through them. Annoying, as switching between them isn\u2019t that straightforward in Windows either. It worked at first, then stopped working at some point.<\/p>\n<p>What helped me: First, simply reinstall the drivers. Although I had installed the software and drivers, it stopped working. After reinstalling, it worked again.<\/p>\n<p>In Task Manager under Startup, the Realtek HD Audio startup items should be enabled, as should the Waves MaxxAudio Service.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/dell_6.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"677\" height=\"474\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-70142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/dell_6.webp 677w, https:\/\/ekiwi-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/dell_6-300x210.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A rather clumsy solution from Dell, or rather the driver.
