Microphone boom for my Rode NT-USB+.
Until now, I had always used my microphone without an arm. Simply with the supplied stand. That wasn’t always practical, as the microphone was then in the way when typing on the keyboard. Always a bit impractical, especially for tutorials.
A search on Amazon brings up a colourful variety of arms. Many of them are inexpensive, but I’ve already found that the cheap models are made without much use of materials and are correspondingly wobbly.
Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP
Elgato is usually of a higher quality, which is also reflected in the price. At 80 euros, the variant here is also significantly more expensive. There are two versions, a high profile and a low profile, which suspends the microphone lower on the table.
The workmanship is superb. The arm is solid and therefore stable. The bracket is attached using a table clamp and the arm is suspended. Various threaded adapters are also included.
The cable can be routed into the arm. The covers are magnetically attached.
The arm is stable and the microphone can be adjusted accordingly using screw clamps. If it is not needed, it can be folded away.
Conclusion
The microphone is stowed away and when I need it, it’s ready for use with a flick of the wrist. It’s no longer in the way, which is particularly helpful for tutorials and keyboard use. It costs a few euros more, but quality pays off in the end.
