Microsoft Teams: Error message AADSTS7008 – Sorry, we can’t log you in

Unfortunately we can’t log you in, authorisation code or refresh token has expired. What can you do?

Problem logging in to Microsoft Teams:

Sorry, we cannot register you.
AADSTS70008: The provided authorisation code or refresh token has expired
due to inactivity. Send a new interactive authorization request for this user and
resource.

The solution

Clear cache, reinstall Teams or reset? Tried everything – nothing works. Instead, the following helps:

  1. Delete these folders:
    • %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe
    • %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
    • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth
    • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TokenBroker
    • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\IdentityCache
  2. If the folder %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy cannot be deleted:
    • Go into the folder and delete all subfolders
    • .

    • If the “AC” folder cannot be deleted, then at least remove the subfolders or system files in it.
  3. Restart the PC and log in to Teams again.

You may need to uninstall and reinstall Teams again, then restart and try again.
