Install a longer cable for the HP USB-C docking station?
The HP docking station comes with a fixed cable. At least it seems so, but it can be changed when we open the dock.
Let’s get started. Firstly, the cover on the underside has to be removed. To do this, the power supply unit is unplugged and a screw is revealed underneath, which we unscrew.
Once the cover is off, loosen two more screws that hold the cable in place.
We fold the fixation to the side and can now release the cable.
In principle, you should be able to use any suitable cable. However, it is important to ensure that these also transmit the appropriate power, display and co. This means that any 0815 cheap cable will not work. The “housing” of the plug should also not be too long so that it fits in.
We had problems with the cable length with a 3-metre cable, where the dock no longer worked properly and was no longer recognised.
