No sound on old hardware.
I still have an older PC standing around here, a mini PC. So I put Linux on it and everything worked straight away, but once again the sound didn’t want to. And then someone says that old hardware doesn’t cause problems with Linux.
According to the data sheet, the PC has a “Realtek ALC671” sound card or chip. Only the “Dummy Output” is displayed in the sound settings.
No sound card recognised
A quick search on the Internet unfortunately revealed little that was edifying. The “sound card” is not recognised.

At least we now know that we are not alone with the problem.
Using a USB sound card
An easy way to get sound is to use a USB sound card. This is simply plugged in, recognised and can then be used directly.
Such a sound card only costs a few euros and can be used flexibly.
