Mount Bitlocker drive in Linux

Can Bitlocker encrypted drives be opened in Linux? Yes!

One of my USB hard drives is encrypted with Bitlocker. Bitlocker is a Windows or Microsoft technology and I wondered if it was somehow possible to open it in Linux. In the end it was easier than I thought.

Bitlocker-encrypted data carriers can be opened in Linux; when opening them via the file manager, a password is requested. However, the default password does not work here. The recovery key is required for opening. Well, a bit awkward, but still.

As soon as this is entered, the drive opens. Unfortunately, the option “Remember password” did not work for me, so the key has to be entered again and again. Tested with openSuse Thumbleweed.
