Use your M2 SSD as a USB storage medium.
In my search for a flexible adapter for M.2 SATA and NVMe SSDs that makes it easy to remove SSDs and transfer data to another computer, I came across the iDSONIX housing.
For around 20 euros, you get an attractive USB housing, a USB-C/A cable, a heat sink for the SSD and a brief instruction manual – the latter proved useful for opening the housing. Inserting the SSD is simple, and if you want, you can also install the heat sink.

The workmanship of the case is high quality, the SSD is securely fixed with a small plastic part, for which a replacement is supplied. As soon as the device is connected, the SSD is recognised immediately. An X-shaped LED signals the operating activity.
To summarise, the adapter offers a cost-effective solution for using an older M.2 SSD as external storage. It also proves helpful when data needs to be backed up from a defective computer, as the SSD replacement is easy to perform.
