WLAN USB stick for Linux, but also for Windows.
I recently put an older mini PC back into operation here. With Linux. Unfortunately, the PC does not yet have integrated WLAN, only a network interface.
I already have a few USB sticks for WLAN lying around, but with many of them, Linux means tinkering first. Most of the problems can be solved, but first you have to throw a cable somehow to get the drivers.
WLAN stick from TP-Link
The TP-Link Archer T3U worked directly under Linux. Fine. The USB stick is medium compact. Not so small, but not so big. In the end, the size is always a compromise between, well, the size and the transmission speed, as there is little space for the antenna.
The manual and driver CD are also included. Does anyone else have a CD drive? Fortunately, the thing worked straight away. Even in Windows.
Speed
The speed is unfortunately only average. At best, there was 2-3 MB/s speed. Too little for the fact that it has AC1300 in its name. But well, that’s just the compromise.
Conclusion
It’s certainly not the best solution, but it’s enough to get a connection. For surfing and data transfer, it’s enough for now and it’s also nice that the thing works directly under Linux (Linux Mint).
In the meantime, I’ve changed my mind a bit and use the LAN connection in conjunction with a WLAN repeater for the socket.
