Compact, affordable mouse for travelling?
My standard mouse is usually the Logitech MX Anywhere 3. It has Bluetooth, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage. A computer must support Bluetooth and also be paired. Well, if necessary, the Logitech receiver also works.
However, every now and then I need a simple mouse that just works via USB. I was looking for a compact, wireless mouse. I found what I was looking for with the Rapoo M10. It costs less than 10 euros, so I was a little sceptical as to whether I was getting something halfway decent here. But let’s take a look.
Hardware
The mouse is available in different colour combinations. I have the blue and white version, so far quite chic. It is a standard mouse, i.e. two mouse buttons, scroll wheel. The mouse is wireless and has an AA battery inside. There is also a USB dongle which establishes the connection to the computer.
If the dongle is not plugged into the computer, it can be plugged into the bottom of the mouse and stowed away. It doesn’t go all the way in, the mouse then tilts slightly, but it’s fine. There is also an on/off switch on the underside.
Processing and function
The workmanship is good, especially considering the price. It doesn’t feel as high-quality as Logitech, but well, the price is worlds apart. The mouse movement is smooth. Even with the two mouse buttons, you don’t notice the low price.
The mouse wheel is a little different. It looks a bit cheap, but not bad. Otherwise, the mouse feels good in the hand. It is quite compact and small, which I personally like. It is certainly too small for others.
Conclusion
Good hardware for a low price. Ideal for the notebook bag for working on the go. I wouldn’t swap it for the MX Anywhere, but it’s definitely practical as a small mouse for travelling.
